Title: A few questions for our fans...
Post by: C*4 on June 29, 2010, 06:29:01 PM
Some questions to our fans....
What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?

How did you first become aware of C*4?

What was your first C*4 show?

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?

Any other suggestions, comments, and general feelings towards C*4 are welcome!

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?
Actual wrestling and wrestlers who interact with the fans while wrestling.

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?
Quality matches that are longer than 4-6 minutes. Great DVD quality, good camera work.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?
As always, maybe a C4 banner/tapestry over the wrestler's entrance to make it look better on DVD.

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?
Hard hitting and entertaining women wrestlers, not just T & or A. :)

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?
Word of mouth works but how about cheap advertising on college or campus community radio? Students love to drink and be entertained. More interviews with prominent wrestling websites to generate more traffic at shows?

How did you first become aware of C*4?
We saw a poster with Sonjay Dutt on it. We were amazed an ex-TNA wrestler would come up here since we thought there was little to no interest after we attended the Gatineau TNA house show.

What was your first C*4 show?
The one with Sonjay...

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?
The promo Kevin Steen cut on the Drunk Tank after the match. Simply amazing! We never looked back. Also, the fact that the fans cheered and booed who they wanted to and the wrestlers adapted and changed character mid-match. The fast-paced, technical and brawling style in C4. Sara Del Rey's excellent wrestling style and the "Slap me, Sara" sign. The kid was askin' for it.

Suggestions/Comments
a) Continue with the recurring matches and backstory to keep us interested in more than just the wrestling. Nothing too over the top or unbelievable though.
b) Keep bringing in outside wrestlers with more experience to work with the locals.

I heard about the show on the old Barbed Wire Board and have been hooked from day 1 I think the wrestling is great, the fans are great and the talent is A1.The only thing I'd change is stop bringing in so many ROH Stars I'd rather see more local guys get a shot then these outsiders.

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?
The quality of wrestling matches and talent presented. I appreciate the fact that you're working a "seasoned" system instead of trying to get talent for bi-monthly shows that would water down the overall quality of the product. The crowd is always into every match - sometimes a little too into the match in the case of certain Drunk Tank regulars - and never sit on their hands. Overall the atmosphere is a welcome one where fans of professional wrestling can have their minds blown six times a season.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?
The ring seems to be in a terrible state most shows. I feel bad for the workers coming out to tighten the ropes after the dark matches and during intermission. A C*4 banner over the entranceway is nice but not needed, IMHO. I understand there are limitations in terms of the ceiling height at The Bomb Shelter, but the ropes and canvas make an otherwise stellar indy fed seem rinky-dink.

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?
I would love it if you guys started offering your own swag in addition to the DVDs. I'd rock a C*4 t-shirt. Also, book more CHIKARA talent.  Delaney and Lee were hard workers, and quite respectful to their opponents post-match.  Class acts.

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?
I'm fairly certain you could get some free interview time on the college and university radio stations in the area. If Mark isn't the most confident speaker about his product, you could always send some local talent to try to put butts in seats. It might also behove you to offer matches on YouTube that aren't simply dark matches before events.  Say, a marquee match from season one or so.

How did you first become aware of C*4?
I saw a poster taped to a pole while I was walking down Elgin.

What was your first C*4 show?
C*4 Domination from season one.

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?
I was hooked after that first show. Everyone worked their asses off, fans and wrestlers included, to put on a great show and they succeeded. I've been coming back ever since.

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?

Good wrestling, longer matches, fantastic talent.

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?

I only watch indy wrasslin (gave up on WWE and TNA a long time ago). C*4 is the best product around.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?

Maybe 2 short intermissions. Tighten up the ring. Cut down on the comedy matches. Wanna see more local talent.

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?

I got nothing..

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?

Let me continue to put edited matches on my YouTube page. Sara Del Ray just passed 11000 hits, and I've had inquires on where to buy C*4 DVDs. Do some local radio ads.

How did you first become aware of C*4?

Some of the original Drunk Tank members took me to a show. I had no idea C*4 existed before then.

What was your first C*4 show?

Domination 2008 I think.

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?

I can drink, yell, and the wrassler/fan interaction. And of course the freakin fantastic wrestling.

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?

Organization.  Top-notch talent.  Showing they give a rats ass about all the fans and their enjoyment, not just a certain demographic. Kids enjoy the shows just as much as the geezers.

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?

I`ll have to repeat answer 1.  You make an effort to provide us with the best guys available, and not just the best local guys and your buddies.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?

None.

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?

Ladies wrestling.  I understand that there isn`t exactly an overabundance of lady wrestlers around, but we need to see more than one or two matches a season.

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?

The old adage - it takes money to make money.  Unfortunately, handing out fliers at the WWE show didn`t seem to amount to squat.  Get a radio or tv personality involved in some way is an interesting way to get the word out.  It worked well for PCW when they had Eric the Intern involved from CHEZ 106 for a couple of shows.

How did you first become aware of C*4?

I have no idea, honestly.  Must have been from Barbed Wire, or Anthony at a PCW show.

What was your first C*4 show?

Your first show.

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?

Again - repeat answer 1.

Mark, you're organization is A1, top to bottom. The entertainment value is way up there. The booking and storylimes are solid. The variety of wrestlers coming in is great (Toronto area, Montreal, etc...).

The only negative point I have is the venue (i.e. low-ceiling). When you're sitting in the back and the grapplin is on the mat, then you gotta get up continuously to better see the action. As well, the low-ceiling limits some of the stuff the high flyers (Stupefied, Uno, Extremo, etc...) can do. Oh and the ropes...they gotta be fixed (tightened).

Keep up the good work!

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?

-the promoter isnt a douche ( not including UWA those guys are also not douches)

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?

-i have fun there, not just waiting for the pain to end

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?

- fire Rush

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?

- 19 + only shows
- Pepito the wrestling cat

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?

- radio, tv, newspaper

How did you first become aware of C*4

-brought 2 a show by original members of the drunk tank ( now C4 knows who to blame)

What was your first C*4 show?

-killed 2 many braincells 2 be sure but i think it was first show of season 2

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?

- if u have ever seen me at a show, that is your answer

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?

They bring in international workers - I've seen ROH, CHKARA, TNA and Japanese workers.  Keep it up!!

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?

Coming from near Cornwall for every show, we're impressed with how close it is for shows, the entertainment value we get and the superb wrestling on these cards.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?

Stop the brawling in the crowds and throwing guys into the seats.  I got blasted in the nose two years ago and it was uncalled for.  It doesn't add anything to a match.  I'd much rather see technical chain wrestling (like Elgin demonstrated in the season finale).

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?

ROH wrestlers, but I understand the money issue.

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?

Stop advertising to your clientele only.  I know hundreds of fans that have NO IDEA there is indy shows in Ottawa.  If C4 advertised only ONE day in the Ottawa Sun - they'd double attendance, I swear!  If WWE could sell seats at ScotiaBank Place, the KOC in Vanier would be packed.

Have the workers do spots on the TEAM 1200 - the program director in the afternoon is a HUGE fan.

You can get mentioned on CTV news in the community calendar.

Pass out posters at malls, not just taped on light poles.

Have Tim Baines attend a show, not just write about it in his column.  One featured story with pictures on a Saturday would increase business ten-fold.

or, ask anybody with a marketing degree what they'd do to help, I don't, but this is just what came to mind off the top of my head

How did you first become aware of C*4?

The flyers passed out after the TNA house show in Gatineau.

What was your first C*4 show?

The first ever one.

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?

They brought in known talent, and MVP was working there, I loved him in the UWA.

Any other suggestions, comments, and general feelings towards C*4 are welcome!

Don't ever book that bum Dave Titan.  He gets blown up way too easily and his back is full of disgusting bacne.

It's always a good idea to seek feedback from fans but (and this is NOT a condemnation of what you're doing)... asking those questions here is bound to give you a very limited slice of the pie. After all, the people on this board are probably the diehard C*4 fans and, while their support is admirable, they alone can't support you if you just cater to them. (It's a numbers thing - nothing personal fellas.)

Maybe you've done this?... Hand out feedback questionnaires at your events to the fans as they're leaving. Include a link to an online version of same. Maybe make it worth their while to keep long enough to actually carry home & fill out - a coupon for a couple bucks off their next ticket, a fold-able prepaid postage gimmick... something.

The diehards are gonna come anyway unless you drastically change things (which is unlikely) and maybe what they want isn't what the majority want. How're you gonna know if you don't tap into that majority... and they ain't hanging out here.

I heard of a fed that included a link to an online feedback gimmick on the flyer for their next show that they handed out to people as they were leaving (as opposed to just papering the seats prior to that night's show.) As an incentive they shilled (verbally and on the flyer) that filling out the feedback gimmick online gave entry into a draw for a number of prizes - dvds, t-shirts and the grand prize... free admission for 1 year. Of the 300+ flyers they handed out that night they got a whisker under 200 responses to their online feedback gimmick.

Again, not to diminish or otherwise attach any negatives to what you're doing with this thread... just saying there might be other ways to better reach a more representative sampling of your overall fan base.

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?
More ladies action than the other feds.

Better value for my money.
Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?
Should be more favour to the local guys.

More championships e.g. tag team championships, woman's championship
What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?
Aquire someone that is strong in sales that will go out and sell lots of tickets, the more new fans that get to see the show, the more you will get by word of mouth.
How did you first become aware of C*4?
A flyer given to me at a PCW show.
What was your first C*4 show?
The very first one.

I understand what Gordo is saying - however, these questions are for the exisiting hardcore fans.  I wanted to see what got them to to the point they are now.

I think the targeting of casual fans in attendance is something I will be looking into - and probably be doing next season.

I have tried handing out posters in malls and suck and each and every time I have been escorted  off the property by saying it is private property and the next time the police would be called. Anyone who doubts that ask my street team about the SCOTIA PLACE incident.

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?
Storylines are well put together (not over complicated and not simple either), the talent is terrific and interactions with the crowd that makes C4 stand out.

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?
Id rather go to a C4 show then order a TNA or WWE Pay Per View as the wrestlers genuinely seem to enjoy performing in front of everyone and always want to put on a show.  Nothing compares to being at a show live.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?
I guess maybe if I had to nitpick, maybe do something about the ring?  I don't know I mean the first time I went I thought it looked kinda "different" due to it's size and apron  but after the first match I really didn't give a shit as it's not really a factor anyways.  Like I said though it's just nitpicking, maybe a banner on the sides or something?

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?
No clue maybe local talent.

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?
It would be awesome to get on the radio or have a column in the SUN before the shows.  Things like the APEX wrestling show are terrific!

How did you first become aware of C*4?
I became aware of C4 a couple of years ago and thought it would be fun to attend as I recognized some of the names from some indy's I'd seen.  For whatever reason I never attended a show until Domination 2010.  I can't remember where I heard of it but it could have been on Facebook.  When I saw the card I had to go and eventhough I had previous plans with my girlfriend I cancelled them when she said she didn't want to go.  The card was good enough as was my curiousity with C4 that I showed up for the show by myself.

What was your first C*4 show?
Domination 2010

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?
Looking back, I think it was a blend of a little bit of everything from the first show I attended.  I'd never seen Sexxxy Eddy and he was real entertaining, as was Jagged cussing out the chandelier and his Obama reference.  Rukin and Xtremo from that event was probably the best match I'd ever seen live (and to think they topped that at the next show), Soya vs Crazy Horse was Un friggin real and stiff and the main event three way was also great.  The show had a little bit of everything as with most shows.

Some questions to our fans....
What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?
C*4 tends to have the strongest roster of wrestlers, and puts on the most entertaining matches.
Quote
What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?
Actually, I do attend other local wrestling events. I do prefer seeing things live though, so I would rather watch a live C4 event (or any other local wrestling organization) than a televised PPV.
Quote
Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?
Perhaps more effort to build up challengers for the title. C4 brings in some very talented wrestlers for its main event, but it would be nice to at least have the appearance that the challengers have worked their way up to the top rather than just getting a title shot in their first appearance.

Quote
How did you first become aware of C*4?
The old 'Barbed wire board' forum (which in turn I became aware of because of the old CPW wrestling organization had a reference to it.)
Quote
What was your first C*4 show?
I was there at the very first show.
Quote
What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?
Same thing as the first question... a strong roster of wrestlers and very strong matches on every show.
Quote
Any other suggestions, comments, and general feelings towards C*4 are welcome!

- put out more lower-cost items at the merchandise table. I'm not suggesting that things like T-shirts are overpriced. But, sometimes people I'm with may want to purchase a smaller souvenier. (For example, my girlfriend has purchased a Sexy Eddy wrist bracelet, whereas she couldn't necessarily afford a T-shirt.)

- Provide programs (even if its just a single sheet giving a list of matches.) Nothing fancy, just a reminder of what the card is

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?

C4 is the only wrestling I watch so can't really compare it to other products.

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?

See above.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?

The merch table - at first there were numerous cool t-shirts but its been a long time since I've seen anything worth buying there. And I even have a crappy 2.0 autographed headband (piece of cloth with some glitterglue :P). I also think the two times I decided to buy a DVD there were none available for the show I wanted (this was a while ago though).

Agree with a banner over the entrance, would be a nice touch.

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?

Stories. Video promos, mic time for wrestlers, gimmicks, surprise entrances, etc. I know you don't want to overdo it or it becomes predictable and lame, but this is usually what I remember most from a show. For example when twiggy came out of the audience in season 3 (?) with the el generico mask. That was epic.

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?

Bench advertisements? Bus ads on a route going near the venue? But tbh I have always noticed the colour posters around town when a show is coming up (the black and white ones not so much).

How did you first become aware of C*4?

Saw one of the posters for the first ever show (big bang?) in Vanier on a street pole... but after that show was already over!

What was your first C*4 show?

Second ever show - fallout I believe

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?

Rahim and MVP's antics at that first show, and realizing how well beer and indy wrestling go together.

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?

Over all, I find C*4 to be the best in the area when it comes to matches and talent. As for why I don't spend money elsewhere, I do but never for WWE or TNA or any mainstream fed. I like to support the local talent.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?

Fan involvement, every show I see a bunch of regulars but very few who ever bring anyone new to a show. If you depend on TV or radio or even the Internet, you will never get ahead. A good portion of business is word of mouth. If no one talks about it, no one new will come.

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?

Story lines and Promos. You have to care about a character and without story lnes or promos it is near impossible to give a damn.

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?

Controversy. As much as I know some people do not like to make waves, the media, and people in general very rarely talk about the good. Make something that shocks and offends once in a while and it will spread. I have heard more talk about the Drunk Tank Chairshots in the Parking lot then about how awesome Petey Williams was. Get my point??

How did you first become aware of C*4?

Facebook invite

What was your first C*4 show?

Snowbrawl 2009

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?

Affordable, fun wrestling. Not some pose fest like WWE Where the fans are largely ignored but the interaction between wrestlers and fans was amazing.

Any other suggestions, comments, and general feelings towards C*4 are welcome!

Focus on locals, names are fine but do not TNA them. Focus on what brought you to the dance!!

Peace.

JB

What do you most like about C*4 that you do not find in other available products?
I like the fact that it includes some wrestlers that i used to see in Montreal (IWS) and i also get to see the best from the american indies which again, in MTL, we don't see them much. So that's what differences from current wrestling in Quebec.

What makes you chose to spend money on C*4 events rather than other available products (international or local)?
Same answer as the first question + fan interaction and atmosphere is priceless.

Where do you see room for improvement in terms of our events?
I've just started to see C4 so i can't think of anything yet.

What do you wish there was more of in C*4?
More talent (NCW has a lot of it), more guests, another championship title and a new market in Montreal.

What ways do you think we could better spread the word about C*4?
Pass flyers, acquire an amazing sales person to help spread the word about C4 in other wrestling shows near Ottawa and Montreal.

How did you first become aware of C*4?
A long time ago!

What was your first C*4 show?
The last one in june.

What "hooked" you to become a C*4 fan?
Same answer as the last.
